After arriving in the early evening, Khun Tom was more than happy to pick us up from the Lopburi train station. Understanding that we must be quite hungry from the exhausting trip from Amphawa, he also offered to pick us up dinner at no extra charge.
Our room was a charming stand alone villa. Bearing a spacious full bedroom and bathroom, it was the perfect arrangement for me and my companion. Before bed, we enjoyed sitting in the garden chatting with the hosts. In the morning, Khun Som made a delicious Thai breakfast complete with rice soup, vegetable omelette and yogurt.
After a quick photo session with our hosts, Khun Tom dropped us off at the local "monkey" temple, and advised us how to get back to the nearby train station.
Our time with them was brief, but we truly enjoyed our stay with these lovely folks! They were a fountain of information on the history and cultural heritage of the Lopburi region, and enjoyed sharing their knowledge with us. My only critique of our visit was that I was unable to explore the village at night, which in most Thai households, is a universal principle to avoid trouble. I suppose that should be taken as an action of good faith :-)
